Baker & McKenzie Announces New Chairman For Its Member Firms In Indonesia, Malaysia And Singapore.

2 July, 2015

Baker & McKenzie’s member firms in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore have appointed Timur Sukirno (“Titung“) as their new Chairman with effect from 1 July 2015. He replaces Dr. Wong Kien Keong who has held the position for the past three years.

Titung is a Senior Partner at Hadiputranto, Hadinoto & Partners, Baker & McKenzie International’s member firm in Indonesia, and heads its Commercial Dispute Resolution Practice Group. Titung will continue to work closely with clients in his new role.

Commenting on the new appointment, Baker & McKenzie’s Asia Pacific Regional Chairman, Bruce Hambrett, said, “Titung is a seasoned practitioner who has held several leadership positions at Hadiputranto, Hadinoto & Partners in Jakarta and more widely in Baker & McKenzie. He has played an instrumental role in building the Firm’s practices and contributed to our success in this fast-growing region. I look forward to working with him in further strengthening our Firm’s profile in these markets.”

Bruce Hambrett added, “On behalf of Baker & McKenzie, I would like to express my deepest thanks to Wong Kien Keong for his outstanding leadership of the Firm’s activities in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. Kien Keong has made a tremendous impact and has been pivotal to its success in Southeast Asia.”

Dr. Wong said: “I am very proud to have led Baker & McKenzie’s member firms in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore including the past three years as their Chairman. The team has built a formidable name for itself across Southeast Asia in all major practice areas as a full service law practice. We have established ourselves as a trusted adviser to our clients and I’m confident that we will continue to entrench our position and expand our offerings as the go-to firm as Titung takes on the mantle.”

Titung added: “I am honoured to be provided the opportunity to build upon the solid legacy that Kien Keong has created and am excited to lead the Firm at a time when the region is witnessing such significant developments, including the anticipated launch of the ASEAN Economic Community at the end of the year. I look forward to working with our talented team of lawyers and business services staff to continue providing our clients with full support in their business activities.”
