2 The Copyright Law currently in effect was adopted in 1990. It underwent two revisions in 2001 and 2010. The 2001 revision was made to fulfil China's commitment concerning access into the World Trade Organization (the "WTO") while the 2010 revision was made in response to a WTO ruling resolving a complaint filed by the United State against China.

6 Issued by the State Council on 18 May 2006. The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Copyrights also issued the Guiding Opinions on the Protection of the Right of Communication through Information Networks (Trial Implementation), effective 1 Aug. 2011. It targets all network operators, copyright collective management organizations, copyright intermediary service enterprises, relevant industry associations and social groups in Beijing.
