Singapore – Clyde & Co Adds Insurance And Reinsurance Partner.

22 March, 2013

Clyde & Co has announced the addition of insurance and reinsurance specialist Ian Roberts as a Partner in the firm’s Singapore office.  He has been appointed to lead the non-marine insurance practice in South East Asia.  Ian is an experienced insurance coverage and liability defence lawyer with a focus on property, construction and engineering claims, FI and D&O risks, general liability, and political risk/trade credit matters.  His liability work has involved him advising in respect of a wide range of insureds, including construction professionals, trustees, financial institutions, directors and officers, solicitors and accountants.   He also regularly advises on the drafting of policy wordings.

Managing Partner Brian Nash said: “Ian’s addition adds further depth again to Clyde & Co’s Asia Pacific insurance offering; his broad experience in non-marine insurance matters complements our Singapore practice perfectly.  We are delighted that Ian has agreed to join us.”

Ian said: “Clyde & Co is a world leader in [re]insurance with a clear and demonstrated commitment to supporting the international insurance industry as it expands across emerging markets around the world.  Their ability to offer a high level of expertise across product lines and across the globe marks Clyde & Co out from their competitors.  The opportunity to play a part in that global offering was compelling and one that I could not refuse.  Singapore is a significant insurance hub, acting as a gateway to South East Asia and the wider region.  We are seeing an increasing demand for our services across construction, engineering, property and financial lines in that region and I look forward to responding to those needs.”

Prior to joining Clyde & Co, Ian was a Partner in the Insurance and Reinsurance Department of Mayer Brown in London.
