Asia Pacific – General Counsel Survey: Beyond The Law.

25 November, 2012

KPMG has produced its first Global General Counsel Survey-Beyond the Law.

The aim of the survey is to find out how much progress the General Counsel (GCs) are making as business decision-makers, and the challenges they face in this growing role.
This survey will be unique in its scope and scale with the culmination of research gathered from across thirty-two countries, three hundred-twenty corporate counsels cross-sector, and in both mature and high growth economies. As part of this research, detailed in-depth interviews were conducted with both select GCs of major global companies and KPMG subject matter advisors.
The research uncovered an increasingly challenging business environment, where GCs are being called upon to play a greater role in the running of companies, particularly in managing of risks. Another headline finding which was discovered was a gap between the beneficial impact GCs believe they can have, and their actual involvement in strategic decision-making, which needs to be addressed.
