Winston & Strawn LLP has announced that Mabel Lui, who led the Corporate Group in Asia for DLA Piper, joins Winston & Strawn as a partner. Along with Mrs. Lui, Daniel Tang joins as a new local partner, Polly Chu as of counsel and Natalie Tsang joins as an associate to the firm. The group’s practice focuses on cross-border and international mergers and acquisitions, general commercial, and corporate matters.

Mrs. Lui has advised clients on China-related business matters for more than 30 years. Her practice primarily focuses on corporate commercial and real estate work in Hong Kong and China, dealing with mergers and acquisitions, and investments of a diverse nature, as well as both inbound and outbound cross-border transactions. Notably, Mrs. Lui served as an adviser to the foreign investor in the first Sino-foreign joint venture in China in 1978, and was on the Hong Kong team of counsel advising one of the first H share issues by Chinese corporations with dual listing in Hong Kong and New York Stock Exchanges in 1993. On both occasions, Mrs. Lui participated in the clarification and formulation of important regulatory issues.
Winston & Strawn has grown significantly in Asia with a number of strategic additions including labor & employment partner Matthew Durham in Shanghai, Asia antitrust partner Steve Harris in Washington, D.C., and most recently, renewable energy partner Marco Pocci, who joined the Hong Kong office in December 2013. The firm also officially opened a Taiwan office in April 2014.
