Pure Water Systems (Aust) Pty Ltd has paid a $26,400 penalty for making telemarketing calls that breached Australia's Do Not Call Register laws. An ACMA investigation was commenced following complaints that people who had registered their number on the Do Not Call Register had received telemarketing calls offering Pure Water Systems' water filtration products.
Businesses conducting telemarketing must have robust processes in place to ensure that they can be confident that they are not calling numbers listed on the Do Not Call Register. Telemarketers who fail to do this risk facing significant penalties.
