The Australian Communications and Media Authority (“ACMA“) has issued proceedings in the Federal Court against TPG Internet Pty Ltd (“TPG Internet“).

The proceedings relate to certain provisions contained in theTelecommunications (Emergency Call Service) Determination 2009 (Cth) (the “Determination”), pursuant to section 147(1) of theTelecommunications (Consumer Protection and Service Standards) Act 1999(Cth), which relates to the provision of access by telephone service providers to the Triple Zero emergency call service. ACMA alleges that TPG Internet breached this Determination for failing to provide certain of its customers and other end users access to the Triple Zero emergency call service.

The breaches are alleged to have occurred within the six month period between March 2011 and September 2011.
