Baker & McKenzie has acted for Australian energy retailer Origin Energy on its USD 800m acquisition of two large exploration permits in Western Australia’s gas-rich Browse Basin from Karoon Gas. Under the deal, Origin agreed to purchase the junior explorer’s 40% stake in the ConocoPhillips natural gas project of which PetroChina Co. holds the balance.
The Baker & McKenzie team was led by leading energy partner, Chris Saxon. He was assisted by partners Frank Castiglia, Ken Gray, and Amrit MacIntyre.
