Baker & McKenzie Elects 23 New Partners In The Asia Pacific Region.

Baker & McKenzie has announced the election of 23 new partners in the Asia Pacific region.
The 23 new partner appointments in the Asia Pacific region represent a range of transactional practices – Banking and Finance; Corporate & Commercial and Mergers & Acquisitions.  They also provide clients with further specialist advisory support in Compliance, Real Estate; Dispute Resolution; Energy, Mining & Infrastructure; Intellectual Property; Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Tax.
Baker & McKenzie’s newly elected partners in the Asia Pacific region, as of 1 July 2015:

  • Vivian Wu focuses on China-related corporate regulatory and compliance matters, in particular anti-corruption, antitrust and environment. She is experienced in compliance investigations, due diligence, risk assessment and training. Vivian is admitted as an attorney in New York and is based in Beijing.
Dispute Resolution

  • Mia Imperial brings to the team 12 years’ of experience handling corporate rehabilitation, insolvency/bankruptcy litigation, and corporate and commercial litigation.  She also handles international and domestic construction arbitration, and compliance and governance work.  Mia is based in Manila.
  • Bryan Ng focuses on financial services-related disputes, regulatory investigations, disciplinary proceedings and general commercial litigation/arbitration matters. He is also well-versed in advising on insolvency-related and financial restructuring matters. Bryan is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong, where he is also based.
  • Pradthanaadt Ratanatanungpong has more than 20 years’ of experience in civil commercial disputes, international trade disputes, construction claims, labour and labour union claims, business rehabilitation procedures and Thailand Arbitration services. Pradthanaadt is based in Bangkok.
Energy, Mining and Infrastructure

  • Melanie Ho has substantial experience in complex energy projects, government procurement projects, construction contracts and dispute-related works on major national infrastructure projects. Melanie is based in Taipei. 
Intellectual Property

  • Jonathan Flintoft specialises in intellectual property law, focusing on brand protection and trade mark prosecution, and commercial law. He provides legal, commercial and strategic advice to a wide range of clients on trade mark selection as well as the registration and protection of their trade marks. He also advises on the drafting and negotiation of a wide range of commercial agreements, including franchising, distribution and supply agreements. Jonathan is based in Sydney.
Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare

  • Belle Chiou has dual qualifications in life sciences and law, bringing extensive experience to her expertise in regulatory and commercial issues in the area of pharmaceuticals and healthcare. She has broad experience representing both local and multinational corporations in mergers and acquisitions. Belle is based in Taipei.
  • Cahyani Endahayu’s practice focuses on corporate/ commercial issues related to foreign investments as well as the pharmaceutical, retail and trading sectors. Cahyani is based in Jakarta.
Real Estate

  • Shiu-man Wan focuses on property development and transactions in Hong Kong. His practice includes project conveyancing, the obtaining of required approvals for the same and advising developers on compliance with the legislation applicable to first-hand sales of residential properties in Hong Kong. He also advises different clients on structured property deals, land grant and building management matters. Shiu-man is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong, where he is also based.

  • Nancy Lai focuses on PRC tax. She advises on international tax planning related to investments in China, as well as tax planning for outbound investments, covering establishment of operations, acquisitions, divestitures and reorganizations. She is also experienced in tax dispute resolution. Nancy is admitted as an attorney in New York. Nancy is based in Shanghai.
  • Amy Ling focuses on PRC tax and is experienced in assisting multinational companies on a range of issues relating to PRC tax and the relevant implications of investments in China, including tax efficient holding structures, corporate reorganizations, exit strategies, repatriation planning and individual income tax matters. She is admitted as an attorney in New York, where she is also licensed as a Certified Public Accountant. Amy is based in Shanghai.

  • Yukiko Komori is a member of the Firm’s Tax & Transfer Pricing group in Tokyo. She is experienced in transfer pricing and international tax matters, advising clients on a broad range of transfer pricing issues with particular respect to advance pricing agreements. Yukiko is based in Tokyo.

  • Chu Kah Chin has extensive experience in banking and finance across a wide range of sectors and jurisdictions. She regularly advises financial institutions, sponsors and borrowers in financing transactions, including syndicated and bilateral bank loans, leveraged loans, real property financing and project financing. Kah Chin is based in Singapore.
  • Masato Honma focuses his practice on Financial Regulations, M&A of financial institutions, PFI/ PPP, Project Finance, M&A Finance, Structured Finance and Asset Finance. He also handles the Casino Act (Integrated Resort Act) as well as healthcare and hospital-related matters. Masato is based in Tokyo.
  • Somika Phagapasvivat’s practice focuses on real estate, acquisition, corporate financing as well as general banking and finance, including financing for infrastructure funds (IFFs) and real estate investment trusts (REITs). Somika is based in Bangkok.
  • Kullapa Stavorn’s practice focuses on loan and credit facilities, corporate and acquisition financing, general banking and finance. Kullapa is based in Bangkok.
  • Andrea Kennedy brings more than 20 years’ of experience across Australia and international jurisdictions specialising in M&A, telecommunications, media regulation, IT, government and regulated industry work, as well as competition & consumer issues and privacy. She has a particular focus on M&A in the telecommunications, media and manufacturing sectors, and has advised major Australian carriers, the Department of Communications and smaller telecommunications service providers on all aspects of telecommunications issues. Andrea is based in Melbourne.
  • Julius Cervantes focuses on general corporate law. He mainly handles foreign investments, routinely advising foreign investors on investment structures, equity restrictions, joint ventures, divestitures, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, and real estate transactions. Julius is based in Manila.
  • Gwyneth Gu has substantial experience with foreign and domestic clients in cross-border transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments and joint venture transactions. She has also advised a number of foreign companies to succeed in their IPO applications on the TWSE market. Gwyneth is based in Taipei.
  • Yutaka Kimura has extensive experience in mergers, acquisitions and general corporate matters. He regularly advises major Japanese and international companies, private equity funds and investment banks on domestic and cross-border issues. Yutaka is based in Tokyo.
  • Dang Chi Lieu focuses on mergers and acquisitions as well as corporate matters and energy, mining and infrastructure projects.
