Herbert Smith Freehills Boosts Competition Practice With New Partner Hire.

10 February, 2015

One of the region’s pre-eminent competition lawyers, Liza Carver starts this week with Herbert Smith Freehills’ competition practice in Sydney.

Ms Carver is a Competition specialist with considerable experience of complex regulatory cases, merger clearances and defending clients in investigations and legal action by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

Australia Managing Partner Jason Ricketts said; ‘ Liza coming on board reinforces our competition practice strength across Australia and into Asia with Mark Jephcott in Hong Kong.

‘We’re very pleased that she’s joined us and her expertise in complex industry regulation, particularly around energy and infrastructure is a great asset for our clients.

‘Liza has litigated two of the three cases effectively reversing the ACCC’s opposition to mergers and Herbert Smith Freehills partner Grant Marjoribanks led the third.’

Ms Carver said she was looking forward to working with partners across the firm and joining the leading competition practice in Asia Pacific.

She joins the firm from Ashurst in Sydney.
