Deacons announced today the appointment of Kevin Tong as a partner in its Capital Markets practice, strengthening one of the firm’s key growth areas.
Kevin will join Deacons’ already considerable Capital Markets practice, within Corporate Finance, which comprises six partners, one consultant and over 35 fee-earners, and will work closely with leading partner Ronny Chow. Kevin’s arrival will add further to Deacons’ extensive range of debt capital markets capabilities. His appointment is a direct result of client demand and the increasing requests from the firm’s existing clients for specialist debt capital markets expertise in Hong Kong and China.
Kevin has deep experience in DCM transactions, with a particular focus on offshore Renminbi capital raising instruments, having been actively involved in the offshore Renminbi space since it opened in 2007. In addition, Kevin also specialises in a wide range of derivatives and structured products, as well as new financial product platforms in Hong Kong.
Throughout the years, he has advised major financial institutions and issuers on a number of landmark and award-winning transactions, both in the topical Renminbi internationalisation forum and the structured products space.
Kevin is qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong and in England and Wales, and is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. He is a regular speaker at industry conferences and seminars and has received numerous professional honours and accolades, including recognition as a leading practitioner in Chambers Asia-Pacific (Capital Markets: Debt).
Kevin Tong said of his move:
“Deacons provides an ideal platform to further develop my DCM practice. The entrepreneurial environment and teamwork are clear advantages to me and I am delighted to be joining Ronny and the rest of his team.”
Ronny Chow, Head of Corporate Finance said:
“DCM is a growing area for us and we are delighted that Kevin has chosen to join the firm. With Kevin’s arrival we now have a terrific platform in Hong Kong and China, and his considerable experience will add further depth to our market-leading practice”.
