Duane Morris & Selvam LLP (DMS), the first U.S.–Singapore joint venture to be approved under the Enhanced Joint Law Venture model, announced today four key appointments to enhance its Asian operations.

Shipping lawyers Raghunath Peter Doraisamy, Colin Jarraw and Prakash Nair have joined DMS partner firm Selvam LLC as directors in order to further its litigation capabilities. Their arrival jump starts Duane Morris & Selvam LLP’s new shipping and maritime practice, serving clients in Singapore, across Asia and throughout the world.

Also, in a significant boost to its corporate practice capabilities, DMS has appointed Ramiro Rodriguez as a director. Rodriguez is a Colombian lawyer with more than eight years of experience in cross-border banking, corporate finance, securities and private equity law, both in common and civil law jurisdictions.

“The new team has established a strong reputation in the international shipping industry, and already assists many of its best-known players,” said Arfat Selvam, managing director of Duane Morris & Selvam LLP. “Their combined experience will be a powerful asset to clients engaged in maritime legal issues of all kinds. As home to one of the busiest ports in the world, Singapore acts as a crucial hub, allowing Asia access to overseas markets. Our firm is now well-equipped to serve that busy, and growing, sector.” She further added “To meet the needs of our growing corporate practice we are also delighted to announce Ramiro’s appointment as part of our ongoing commitment to grow our Latin American Practice, currently led by Eduardo Ramos-Gomez, managing partner in Duane Morris & Selvam LLP.”
