Duane Morris & Selvam LLP hosted a roundtable session on “India: New Opportunities for the Asian Investor” at its Singapore office on November 18, 2014. The roundtable forms part of the Ambassador Series, a regular series of seminars for which an Ambassador or High Commissioner is invited to share his or her insights with a close-knit group of interested parties.

H.E. Mrs. Vijay Thakur Singh, Indian High Commissioner to Singapore and chief guest at the event, spoke on the landmark developments in Indian investment policy and participation opportunities for Asian businesses. She also discussed the government’s moves to eradicate lengthy regulatory processes and streamline market entry and expansion. During her speech, she touched on key domestic initiatives, new anti-corruption measures, foreign policy developments and the significance of the Indian diaspora to India as a whole.

The event was well received and attended by senior in-house counsel, advisors and business owners from a variety of sectors. Managing Partner of Duane Morris’ Asian offices, Eduardo Ramos-Gómez, conducted the introduction to the High Commissioner and Managing Director Arfat Selvam gave the vote of thanks, which included the presentation of a special book of poems written by Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
