Herbert Smith Freehills has entered into a new relationship with Singapore law firm Prolegis LLC, effective 1 November 2014.
Operating under a Foreign Law Practice licence, Herbert Smith Freehills will provide clients with access to Singapore law advice through its relationship with Prolegis, and will provide Prolegis’ clients with access to Herbert Smith Freehills’ international lawyers in Singapore and throughout the global network. The two firms will cooperate closely in Singapore to deliver a complementary and seamless legal service. Prolegis was founded by Ban Leong Oo, who has over 20 years’ experience as a lawyer in the city. Prior to establishing Prolegis, Ban Leong was with Allen & Overy, Drew & Napier, and legacy firm Herbert Smith’s London office.
Alastair Henderson, South East Asia Managing Partner, commented:
“I am delighted that our clients will have access to high quality Singapore law advice from Prolegis. Both firms are strongly committed to this relationship and to an effective and efficient collaboration. We expect to be working very closely with Prolegis given its specialties in corporate and commercial law related to M&A and strategic investments.”
Ban Leong commented:
“South East Asia is going through unprecedented growth and a significant amount of regional legal work is being run out of Singapore and governed by Singapore law. Prolegis and Herbert Smith Freehills share a strong working relationship; I know the partners well and look forward to working alongside them.”
