LTD.) & working for 6 years, later getting an opportunity to work in FMCG Industry (PERFETTI VAN MELLE INDIA PVT. What has been your biggest challenge so far as an in house legal counsel?

When the marketing department wants to do something, which has legal restrictions, but rather than being a bottleneck for them, the Legal Department finds a way out, which itself is a challenge everyday.

What are the biggest regulatory issues you are facing at the moment?

Not yet governed by any Regulator.

What main law firms does your company use?

Amarchand Mangaldas, IntelAdvocare, SKJ Law Offices and other independent lawyers depending upon the type of matter.

How often do you outsource legal work?

Around 80% work is done in-house, unless the matter requires Court appearances. In-house work includes – drafting & vetting of contracts, replies to legal notices, marketing promotion schemes, release of advertisements, negotiations with 3rd parties, settlements, day-to-day advises.

How often do you revise your external panel?

Not often, infact, lawyers keep on getting added in our panel.

Aside from fees, what are the main criteria you consider important when deciding whether to hire a law firm for a particular matter?

Personal Attention by the Managing Partner of the Law firm, able to deliver in short time span, always willing to accommodate inspite of others’ pending works.
