Law firm Shearman & Sterling continues to expand and strengthen its development and finance practice with the addition of partner George Borovas in Tokyo. He comes to Shearman & Sterling from Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP. Mr. Borovas is ideally placed to play a leading role in establishing the firm’s nuclear practice globally, having advised on nuclear power plant development and financings, nuclear transactions, litigation and regulatory matters worldwide.

“We are delighted to have George join our firm,” said Creighton Condon, the firm’s Senior Partner. “We have a market-leading project development and finance practice already, and George strengthens that group and raises our profile in the all-important nuclear power space.”

Global Project Development & Finance leader Bill McCormack added, “We have exceptional capabilities worldwide in the energy sector, but nuclear power projects require unique capabilities possessed by very few lawyers. George truly is a market leader and we envision great synergies between his practice and our global power projects.”

“Shearman & Sterling’s global power offering is extensive and its partners possess outstanding market reputations,” Mr. Borovas said. “I really think the sky is the limit for our expanded practice and its services to our clients, and I welcome the opportunity to connect my nuclear industry knowledge with such an impressive global power and infrastructure practice.”
