Shearman & Sterling is pleased to announce that the firm has promoted three lawyers to counsel in Asia.
Commenting on the promotions, Matthew Bersani, Asia Managing Partner, said “We are delighted to announce the promotions of these lawyers, who have distinguished themselves through their outstanding abilities and commitment to our clients and our firm. Their promotions reflect the continued growth of our Asian practice and our commitment to the Asia region.”
The following lawyers were elected counsel:
Beijing – Yan (Chris) Chen practices in the Capital Markets-Asia group in Beijing. Chris received a J.D. in 2002 and an LL.M. in 1997 from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and an LL.B. from Renmin University of China in 1994.
Hong Kong – Arnold Pang is a member of the Capital Markets-Asia group in Hong Kong. Arnold received an LL.B. from the University of Hong Kong in 2001. He received a B.A. from the University of Toronto in 1998.
Singapore – Scott A. Baggett is a member of the Project Development & Finance group in Singapore. Scott received a J.D. from New York University School of Law in 2000, and a B.S. from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1990.
In total, the firm has promoted 15 associates to counsel across its worldwide platform. The new counsel practice in nine offices – Beijing, Hong Kong, London, Palo Alto, Paris, New York, Singapore, Toronto and Washington, D.C. and in the antitrust, asset management, capital markets, European corporate, finance, international arbitration, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, project development and finance and tax areas.
