Singapore – ATMD Bird & Bird and AmCham hosted Joint Seminar on Data Protection.

On 16 February, the International Data Protection Group hosted a joint seminar with The American Chamber of Commerce in   Singapore (AmCham Singapore) on various aspects of data protection law in Asia and Europe. London partner Ruth Boardman, co-head of Bird & Bird’s International Data Protection Practice and Sheena Jacob, who is also Co-Chair of the ICT Committee of AmCham Singapore lead a panel of excellent speakers.
 
The seminar which featured speakers from the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore including Aileen Chia, Deputy Director-General (Telecoms & Post) and Amos Tan, Deputy-Director (Data Protection) also featured industry participation by Microsoft Asia Pacific’s Regional Director (Government Relations) John Galligan and Lisa Watson, Chairman of the Direct Marketing Association of Singapore. Su Siew Ling from Tay & Partners, Malaysia, provided an update on the Personal Data Protection Act in Malaysia.
 
The seminar, which was a full house, attracted more than 100 attendees which included in-house counsel as well as senior management and marketing professionals from key industry players.
