Eversheds has announced the appointment of Oommen Mathew as Managing Director of its Singapore office. Oommen has been with Eversheds since 2009 having started his career at local firm Allen & Gledhill.

He has extensive experience as lead counsel representing both regional and international clients in the Singapore High Court, Court of Appeal and almost exclusively in recent times in international arbitrations conducted under ICC, SIAC, SCC and UNCITRAL Rules regimes.

The announcement of Oommen Mathew’s appointment follows swiftly on from previous announcements confirming plans to restructure the firms management team in Asia.

The new management team in Asia has been tasked with implementing Eversheds new global strategy in the region and is made up of regional managing partner Stephen Kitts, Asia head of corporate Stephen Mok, Asia head of litigation and dispute management Ivan Ng and Asia head of finance King-tak Fung.

Eversheds Asia Regional Managing Partner Stephen Kitts said:

“The next stage of our journey in Asia is to drive closer integration with the rest of our global business and to continue to invest in high calibre front line practitioners, in particular in corporate, finance and litigation. Oommen has a key role to play in the development of our practice in Singapore and our plans to invest further in the region.”
