This was one of the most complicated debt restructurings in the history of Indonesia, involving a company holding Indonesia’s largest fleet of bulk carriers, with ships operating in both Indonesian and international waters through SPV subsidiaries, domestic and foreign debt including US dollar bonds, rupiah bonds, rupiah sukuk bonds, secured ship facilities, working capital lenders and trade creditors. The restructuring included debt restructuring, Indonesian bankruptcy and Suspension of Debt Payment Obligation (PKPU) proceedings, an arbitration in which SSEK represented Arpeni, US Chapter 15 proceedings and capital raising.
